So long Pantera…Sniff Sniff

soooo 2012 has been a year of mourning. Oh no here we go again- some of the mourning has been over things way too personal to share and probably too uncomfortable to read. I'll spare you the amusement... But today I'd like to share a lighter type of mourning I'm experiencing as of last week. I'm talking about a dark morning (literally it was dark as I left to work that morning) when I realized my beloved BMW f650 motorcycle had been taken away from me. Taken as in, stolen in the middle of the night.

I think I experimented the five steps of mourning pretty rapidly. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
I truly hope whoever took the Pantera was in desperate need of money and I hope he/she can get something positive out of this deal.

okay so why do I share this loss on a traveling blog?

well, because the Pantera and I had big traveling plans :-)
this fall, We were planning on "slaying the dragon"… come again you say? Crossing Deals Gap at the Tennessee/North Carolina state line is the "Tail of the Dragon". It is considered by many as one of the world's foremost motorcycling and sports car roads in the United States. We would have enjoyed this 11-mile stretch featuring 318 curves. for now that dream will have to wait :-(

soooo, what did I learn from this experience? I learned that when you think things can't get any worse…well they can, so be thankful for everything, the good things and the bad ones. I learned that the more you own stuff, the more the stuff owns you. I learned that is more important to invest in people, eternity, and the arts. These are things worth spending your time and energy. They will not perish when it's all said and done.

There you have it. This is my therapy. I feel a lot better already :-)

Love for motorcycles started at an early age. I know I know I had a big head.

She never complaint. She did exactly what I told her to. She was a perfect companion :)

Not a lot of hope for case # 12-13869

Thankful for this

  1. I'm so sorry to hear that :(. I have to say that I totally agree with you when you say that we have to invest in people, eternity and arts; I will add travel to that. The experiences you get while traveling stay with you forever. Hope you are feeling better about Pantera.
